Kolsterising® exclusively from Bodycote
'Kolsterising is a case-hardening process primarily for austenitic stainless steels. Wear resistance and resistance to galling is improved, while corrosion resistance remains unchanged. The process involves diffusion of carbon into the work piece surface without the formation of chromium carbides. Post treatment surface hardness is equivalent to between 70 and 74 HRc. Standard case depths offered are 22 or 33 microns.'

h_blank03 Bodycote Kolsterising ® offers a surface hardening heat treatment solution for austenitic stainless steels by improving mechanical wear properties without affecting corrosion resistance adversely. Kolsterising ® is a proven process extending the life of products thereby imparting economical advantages as well as technical advantages.
Kolsterising ® is the chosen heat treatment for many applications in most engineering sectors including food, marine, medical, chemical and nuclear. Wherever components are subjected to severe wear and corrosion attack, Kolsterising ® is now the technically most advanced process offering the required quality to industry.
